Moving ? Yes. Really ? Errrrr....

A work colleague recently asked me - "Are you moving ? Are you changing your job ?" (direct translation from Akak nak pindah ? Akak nak tukar kerja ke ?) To which I responded "No.... I was looking forward to change, yes, to coming back to the office and doing a bit of HR Ops work, which would be different dfrom what I have been doing so far" which was not entirely untrue :). SO WHO WAS IT WHO LET OUT THAT I WAS PLANNING TO LEAVE ? hahaha....

I had pondered leaving my current job, to go do something more fulfilling. Not to say that this current role is not, but I had been in such a highly charged environment where I was burning up my fat reserves at a rate faster than zooming on the highway at 110km/h (hey, that's the official speed limit, demons !). Now is a walk in the park.. no, more of a leisurely stroll. I was looking for something more consuming than sitting on my butt all day. Something that required me to be actively planning for other people, planning their career path and thence on their lives. Coaching them. Mentoring. I miss meeting new people everyday, talking and inquiring and getting feedback on what is happening with their lives. I hate sitting down on my backside all the hours. i need to get my adrenaline charged up again. That is when I jumped on an oppurtunity for a job interview. I had a great time, exploring something new and different - but alas that could not come to fruition. As even if I loved the idea of the new role, I still want my holiday at the end of the year. I still want my trip in the middle of next year. And those are the times when that role will peak in its work demands.

So here I am, back in the main office, and making myself look for new things to do. For one, harassing the HR Ops team of one person on the whys things are not operationally perfect. But I am not all talk, I have offered my services into re-looking at the processes that are available (NOT!) and will help plan for a better future (mine! :) ) at work for all of us. At least I can then shut myself up if the processes that should be there are in place, and if not perfect, I will have also myself to blame. Oh.. my offer has been taken up and I can start meddling, immediately ! that is, as soon as after the COO discusses with the HR person.. Once that is done, I can then agree on the strategy on how she can benefit from my well-intentioned interference.

So, all is not lost, no ? If what you want is not immediately there, create the need for it, then offer your assistance - just make sure you know what exactly it is that you're getting yourself into... ha ha ha ha
